“All Earth Is Hopeful”
A favorite hymn/song of mine is entitled, “All Earth is Hopeful.” It is Spanish in origin and has an upbeat tune, reflective of its title. I especially appreciate the last two stanzas:
“Mountains and valleys will have to be prepared;
New highways opened, new protocols declared.
Almost here! God is nearing, in beauty and grace!
All clear every gateway, in haste, come out in haste!
We first say Jesus a baby in a crib.
This same Lord Jesus today has come to live
In our world; he is present, in neighbors we see
Our Jesus is with us, and ever sets us free.”
Underlining the last line helps me remember we always have hope because Jesus is always with us! The one whose birth we celebrate, whose return we anticipate, is present with us now and always through the goodness of God!
Are you hopeful? It’s not easy to be these days. Give this a try: make a list of what is good and right about your life. Believe me, everyone has a least a few things to place on this list. Now focus on those good things and see them as gifts from God, whose greatest gift to us is Jesus. Jesus, who is with us and ever sets us free to live and love!
