Radio Broadcast

"Although I am unable by illness to leave my bed, your radio broadcasts make me feel that I have been carried through the doors of your church each Sunday to worship God with you. I sometimes think that you are like the people in the Bible who picked up their sick friend, bed and all, and took him to Jesus."

This rewarding paragraph is from a letter sent by a homebound member. On January 6, 1935, the first radio broadcast was made possible by several members who worked all day Sunday so that Dr. Baker's evening service would be heard. The time was then changed to the current time of 11:00 AM Sunday, with the Festival Service being broadcast on Radio WOYK AM 1350 each week.

During these years many interesting and rewarding letters have been received from our listeners. Although most of these letters have come from this area of Pennsylvania and nearby Maryland, letters have also been received from people as far north as Toronto and as far south as Virginia.

"St. Matthew is one of the longest continuous religious broadcasts in the nation" was the way an official at station WORK 1350 AM (WOYK's former call letters) described the twenty-five years of our radio ministry in 1960.
